Saving only Neo-Gothic chapel in Belarus
Saving not only the natural wealth, but also man-made heritage, in particular the architectural heritage, is also a priority of state policy. Every year, the Presidential Fund for Culture and Arts allocates funds for preservation and restoration of various objects. Among them is the only chapel in Belarus in the Neo-Gothic style located in the agro-town of Zakozel, Drogichin District.
The chapel of the Ozheshko family in Zakozel is unofficially called the Belarusian Notre Dame. There are many architectural elements, which make it similar to the French cathedral. It is the oldest Neo-Gothic building in Belarus. It was designed by the same architect as the residence of the Puslovsky family. Besides, it was built from the same brick as the castle in Kossovo.
