Exhibition on fascist genocide in Belarus opens in Gomel
An exhibition on the genocide of the Belarusian people opened in Gomel. The exposition is based on materials found during excavations in the Chenkovsky Forest. From 1941 to 1943, the Nazis used this territory for shooting civilians. Visitors can see personal belongings of the dead and a 3D photo of the place of excavation works for a full immersion into the atmosphere of the war years.
Alexander Shinkarev, Deputy Prosecutor of Gomel District:
Now our youth lives in a bit different realities, we have to look for other approaches to them as well. That is why we are trying to inform young people about all the horrors of the genocide and atrocities committed by the Nazis and their accomplices in the territory of Gomel Region.
The remains of about a thousand people have been found in the Chenkovsky Forest. Experts believe there were many more victims. The search will continue with the advent of spring 2023.
