12 citizens of Belarus hospitalized with suspected meningitis in Moscow Region
12 citizens of Belarus have been hospitalized because of an outbreak of infectious meningitis in Moscow Region. This was reported to BelTA by the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.
"12 citizens of Belarus were hospitalized in Russian medical institutions with suspected meningitis. Diagnosis was not confirmed in two of them, eight are in a moderate state, one is in a serious condition. According to the officially unconfirmed information, one of the hospitalized Belarusian citizens died today," said the diplomatic mission.
The embassy stressed that all the diseased are provided with the necessary medical care in accordance with the normative legal framework of the Union State. "The embassy is ready to provide the required assistance to the citizens of Belarus within its capabilities," said the diplomatic mission.
"The Belarusian embassy continues monitoring the situation with an outbreak of infectious meningitis at an enterprise in the urban district of Istra. We are in constant contact with representatives of the Ministry of Health of Moscow region, Department of Rospotrebnadzor in Moscow region, medical institutions," added the diplomatic mission.
According to media reports, an outbreak of infectious meningitis occurred among the employees of a warehouse of the company Ozon. Rospotrebnadzor for the Moscow Region has taken the situation with cases of infectious meningitis in the Moscow region among the company's employees under control. Sanitary and anti-epidemic measures are being taken there to prevent the spread of infection.
