Lukashenko talks about impact of sanctions on economy of Belarus
The President of Belarus frankly spoke about the incident with the plane, his view on whether it was a provocation in the interview to the Sky News Arabia TV channel.
Our President called the reports that our country allegedly forcibly landed an aircraft in Minsk a fake and this whole situation was planned in advance. The West's overreacted, ranging from the information terror of Belarus to the imposition of sanctions.
In the interview, Alexander Lukashenko, among other things, responded to the West's accusations of alleged involvement of Belarus in illegal migration and told how the sanctions affected the country's economy. Their introduction was not unexpected; countermeasures were thought out in advance. GDP growth in Belarus amounted to approximately 3.5% for the first half of the year. This is even more than planned. As for the dialogue with the EU, there may be options, if the West is really interested in this. Alexander Lukashenko is not against the mediation of the United Arab Emirates in building a dialogue between Belarus and the European Union.
