At SCO summit, Alexander Lukashenko proposes steps to create Greater Eurasia
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko voiced proposals on practical steps towards the creation of Greater Eurasia at a meeting in Astana in the SCO Plus format, BelTA reports.
"I am deeply convinced that the best answer to the challenges in global politics will be our unity and cohesion. For this purpose, we must consolidate in the space that is the area of responsibility of the Organization. It is this approach that determines the need to create a Greater Eurasia," said the Belarusian leader and outlined several steps in this direction.
On the initiative to adopt the Eurasian Charter
The head of state proposed to develop a concept, the name and draft of which is already available - the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the XXI century. The idea emerged following the results of the international conference held in Minsk in October last year.
Alexander Lukashenko said that now this conference in Minsk has already become an annual event on regional security. "Moreover, we consider it as a kind of Eurasian alternative to the transatlantic Munich conference," the President noted. - Invitations to the leadership of your Foreign Ministries to the Minsk conference, which will be held this fall, have already been sent. I would very much like representatives of your countries to participate in the discussion of the Charter. We believe that it should be adopted at the level of heads of state."
