Alexander Lukashenko about economy of Belarus: We will survive
The attention of the whole world was riveted this week to the talks between the Presidents of Belarus and Russia. Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin talked in Moscow for six hours about bilateral relations under pressure from the West, our allied response to sanctions, as well as security in Ukraine and the region.
As a result they stressed that if Kiev is willing to, the Ukrainian conflict can be resolved at any moment. As for the economy, the collective West has put unprecedented sanctions pressure on our countries. It is clear to everyone what this is done for: to destroy the economy, alienate allies, in short, to sever all the ties. Our President made it clear to journalists before the talks started: the allies have something to answer with. Alexander Lukashenko declared: "We will survive!".
According to our intelligence, the route of the mercenaries goes along our border towards the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. And this week the situation at the plant has become yet another reason to stir people up. All nuclear facilities in the exclusion zone were left without power supply. We don't need the second Chernobyl. We spent so much time and effort to restore and bring back to life the affected lands. At the suggestion of our President, special programs were adopted. That's why, on Alexander Lukashenko's instruction all necessary measures to supply power to the plant were implemented by the Belarusian specialists within the shortest period of time.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
“These foreign mercenaries are coming along the border of Belarus to the Chernobyl plant. They want to cut the routes of Russian troops - to stab them in the back, as I said; second, they want to hit the positions of those troops that we have left after the Belarusian-Russian exercises; and they do not lose hope of dragging us directly into this massacre. They're not that simple. And we still have to figure out what they wanted to do in Chernobyl.”
We have nothing and no one to blame for the fact that we are defending our borders and our citizens. Our military 24/7 does everything to ensure security of the state border, which is in fact a common, allied border.
