Alexander Lukashenko takes part in informal summit of CIS heads of state

St. Petersburg is hosting an informal summit of the CIS heads of state. Our President is taking part in it. At last, for the first time in a long time, the politicians met face to face to sum up the results of 2021. This year was held under the chairmanship of Belarus. The CIS turned 30 years old. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the new association not only reunited the former republics, it led them away from the economic abyss. During its long history, the commonwealth was transformed into the leading integration platform in the post-Soviet area.

The leaders jointly considered how to adapt the Commonwealth to the current realities and promptly take measures to counter the spread of new strains of the coronavirus. The Belarusian leader had a discussion with the Chief Sanitary Inspector of Russia in this regard.

A meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin is scheduled for tomorrow. The heads of state will discuss the urgent issues of Belarusian-Russian cooperation. There will also be an informal part of the talks, the leaders are expected to play hockey.
