Aleinik: Belarus maintains critical dialogue with the West
The development of mutually respectful relations is the only way to resolve the conflict with the West. This was stated by Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik on the board of the Foreign Ministry, BelTA informs.
The Minister notes that the MFA continues to provide comprehensive support to the Belarusian enterprises in the west to maintain and, where possible, develop trade and economic cooperation. According to Sergei Aleinik, this was confirmed by the recent visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, to Minsk. During the talks, the parties agreed to hold an intergovernmental commission in the near future, supported bilateral working groups on agriculture and other areas, and confirmed their interest in developing bilateral trade and economic cooperation in areas not affected by sanctions.
"Where it is in our interests, we maintain a critical dialogue. The political circles of the Western countries are informed about the counterproductive nature of sanctions and restrictions and the importance of developing mutually respectful relations as the only way to resolve interstate conflicts," stressed the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
"In the field of multilateral diplomacy, first of all within the UN and OSCE, despite all the difficulties, the Foreign Ministry in cooperation with Russian and Chinese colleagues continues to break the consensus against the attempts of the Western countries to push through their anti-Belarus initiatives. "Our approach of having no alternative to peaceful negotiations in addressing the conflict situations in the region, as well as at the global level, is well known at all multilateral platforms," said Sergei Aleinik.
According to him, Belarus' call for a global dialogue with the involvement of all major international players in the spirit of San Francisco has not gone unnoticed.
