Belarus will work to make UN more effective - Lukashenko
Belarus will work to make the UN more effective. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko while receiving the report of the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Valentin Rybakov, BelTA reports.
"Naturally, we have been supporting this organization and will continue to do so. We are one of the founding countries of the UN. We see shortcomings, but they are not the shortcomings of Guterres (UN Secretary-General António Guterres - BELTA's note) and the organization. They are our specific ones, because the UN is a collective body. Everyone has his own voice, his own opinion. He has the right to vote one way or another. He has the right to speak out one way or another. We understand it very well, but we will work to make the UN more effective," said the head of state.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the decisions taken in the UN should be fair for all. "And not as it happens now thanks to the policy pursued by the West, primarily the U.S., using its dominant advantage in the economy, finances. That's why we are for the United Nations. We will support all sensible initiatives that correspond to our understanding of a just world order, multipolarity in the world and so on. We will act in this direction," said the President.
He also said that all the Belarusian human initiatives, put forward at the UN platform, are not becoming less significant for the world community.
