Belarus and Laos look for ways to circumvent sanctions in interbank transactions
Deepening trade cooperation, global security and joint opposition to sanctions. These and other issues were discussed today at the videoconference meeting between the Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreychenko and the Chairman of the National Assembly of Laos. Because of the pandemic, mutual trade turnover has declined, although back in 2019 it was more than $13 million. Belarus is ready to respond to the needs of Laos' economy. The sticking point is interbank transactions: the EU and U.S. sanctions have made them more difficult. And if the parties manage to find a mutually acceptable solution, trade cooperation between Laos and Belarus may be expanded in the near future.
