Belarusian Foreign Minister takes part in UN General Assembly meetings
Belarus calls on all countries to unite efforts in the fight against unilateral coercive measures, which are applied by some states and lead to the deterioration of the situation of ordinary citizens. This violates the UN statutory principles. This is the position of our country, voiced by the head of the Foreign Ministry at a meeting with colleagues from the "Group of Friends" on the platform of the organization.
Later, speaking at the UN Security Council meeting, the topic of which was "Maintaining peace and security of Ukraine," Vladimir Makei presented our country's position on the current situation, which has been repeatedly voiced by the President,
Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus:
“Unfortunately, the conflict is not raging out. Military operations are going on, the uncontrolled pumping of Ukraine with weapons from Western countries continues, the activities of Ukrainian extremist groups preaching violent methods and neo-Nazi ideals are encouraged, and interethnic hatred and discord are stirred up in every possible way. NATO troops are concentrated near the borders of neighboring countries, including those on the western borders of Belarus. An aggressive anti-Belarus campaign has been deployed, aimed at smearing Minsk in the context of this crisis. Belarus is considered an "accomplice of the aggressor" or a party to the conflict. We have said and continue to say: Belarus has never been in favor of war. But we are not traitors either. We have allied obligations, we firmly follow the spirit and the letter of the international treaties to which we are parties. At the same time, Belarus responsibly declares that not a single Belarusian soldier, not a single piece of equipment has been sent to Ukraine to take part in hostilities. The OSCE independent experts confirm that Belarus is not a party to the international armed conflict in accordance with the norms and principles of international law. All the accusations made by the West against Belarus are completely groundless and unfounded.”
Belarus is interested in the speedy conclusion of the Ukrainian conflict. President Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly stated this. Moreover, our country has provided and is ready to provide its territory for the discussion and conclusion of a peace agreement. Nothing can justify the loss of life. And the UN, as an authoritative international organization, must finally have its say here.
