Golovchenko: Belarus and Syria linked by genuine friendship and long-standing partnership relations
Belarus and Syria are linked by genuine friendship and long-standing partnership relations. This was stated by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko on October 30 at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria.
He noted that the visit of the delegation of the Government of Belarus to Damascus took place in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, and allowed for the development of a number of decisions aimed at intensifying bilateral cooperation. And today the countries are moving along this path, despite the illegal pressure that each of the partners is experiencing.
The Prime Minister of Belarus is confident that the visit of the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Syria to our country is another important step towards strengthening the comprehensive partnership and friendship between our countries.
"In these difficult conditions, it is important to maintain the dynamics of contacts at a high level, at the international level, and to promote interactions between business circles. We understand that due to a number of international reasons, geopolitical tensions, we have not yet reached the level that would correspond - the level in the economy that would correspond to the level of political partnership, - Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of Belarus, said. - Mr. Minister, we cannot stop, we cannot justify the lack of proper progress in our economic relations with difficulties. We must confidently work on this. And we expect that your visit will give the necessary impetus to the intensification of relations between our countries in the economic sphere, in the humanitarian sphere."
As the Head of the MFA noted, Syria seeks to develop bilateral relations with Belarus and is ready to discuss a wide range of issues. Belarus and Syria face similar threats: and this pushes us to work together to counter these challenges.
