President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko appoints Sergei Aleinik member of Council of Republic, BelTA informs.

"He will head the relevant commission. He agreed to it," said Alexander Lukashenko.

The head of state recalled that former diplomat Sergei Rachkov heads the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs in the House of Representatives. Sergei Aleinik will have a similar position in the Council of the Republic.

"Parliamentary control over the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and on certain issues - of the government will be strengthened," the President said. - All of you asked for more powers - you will get them, including the Parliament".

First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Maxim Ryzhenkov has been appointed head of the Foreign Ministry.
