Lukashenko about situation inside and around Belarus: This is just the tip of the iceberg
At the meeting with the leadership and operational staff of state security bodies, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko commented on the situation in and around Belarus and emphasized the merits of intelligence officers in responding to the existing challenges.
"I've invited you into this room for a serious conversation between men (such a conversation has recently taken place with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense)," said the President at the beginning of the event.
"As for the situation around and inside Belarus, this is just the tip of the iceberg. The instigation of a coup d'état, organization of terrorist acts, actions to intimidate the population, aggressive information warfare, attempts to destroy the economy, in short, hybrid warfare. And the end point of this hybrid war, of course, is military aggression. So far we have not come to this," said Alexander Lukashenko to the participants of the meeting.
The head of the state emphasized that the KGB officers understand the urgency of the situation like no one else. It is also eloquently demonstrated by the plans of the KGB to carry out violent extremist acts against representatives of the state media, judges, deputies, members of the security forces and their families. The President draws attention to the fact that in 2021 the state security bodies of Belarus, in cooperation with other government agencies, prevented 11 attempts to commit terrorist acts, organized and financed from the territory of Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, USA and Germany. "This is what we know and what we can say," Alexander Lukashenko explained.
"Thanks to the efforts of the staff in the room, among others, the activities of a network of the so-called sleeper cells of the "Rabochy Ruch" project, supervised by the US and Lithuanian special services, were documented and suppressed. The participants of this extremist formation were planning sabotage with death of people at the facilities of Orsha and Minsk railway junctions, enterprises "Grodno Azot", "Gomselmash", Naftan, BMZ. In order to adjust the Western sanctions policy, classified data on mechanics was collected through a network of informants.
