Lukashenko instructs to restructure Foreign Ministry with regard to current objectives
Proposals to revise the structure and the number of the MFA and our other foreign institution were submitted to the President today. These and other issues were discussed during the report of Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei to the head of state.
Number and structure of the Foreign Ministry and our foreign institutions to be reviewed
As the situation on the external circuit shows, the pressure on our country is not getting any less. The migration crisis provoked by the West is only a pretext to strengthen it. Another package of sanctions against our enterprises and citizens is being prepared. Therefore, it is strategically important to understand our place in the system of international system and determine those states with whom the productive cooperation is possible. The emphasis should be laid on the promising markets, where, our products in demand, which are ready for a constructive dialogue (For example, China, CIS and Far East countries).
We see and understand what is going on, especially in the Western vector, our Eastern and Southern vectors are changing. Therefore, I gave an instruction to the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to revise the structure and the number of MFA personnel, its missions abroad. You presented your proposals. I studied them. You have done a scrupulous job. But I would like to caution against ‘cosmetic changes' in view of the situation that is developing along our borders.
