Lukashenko: Union State building its security based on defense needs
Lukashenko: Union State building its security based on defense needs
A conversation on strengthening national security took place on January 21. One of the military facilities in Brest Region was chosen for the discussion of the borders defense. The President was reported on how air defense missions were carried out. One of the military airfields is located outside Luninets. The Commander-in-Chief stated unambiguously: "We are building our security based on the need to protect our borders. There is no threat from Belarus a priori." We simply must always be ready to respond to aggression, especially when we see militarization near our borders.
Viktor Khrenin, Minister of Defense:
“We observe the increased intensity of combat training from our neighbors and new political vector of the neighboring Ukraine. We constantly see their airspace being used by reconnaissance aircraft. We see military camps deployed, about 6,000 different categories of military personnel are concentrated there. And the issue of military security is very acute at the moment. We must make decisions to protect our country.”
We'll build our defense system together with our Russian partners. Minsk has a single air defense system with Moscow. But even in stand-alone mode ours confidently monitor the sky. Our Vostok, Protivnik, and Sopka radar stations are among the best ones in the world. That has been proven more than once during maneuvers. The combat instruments from S-300 and "Buk" to "Wasp" and "Thor" also look solid.
Union Resolve 2022
Right now the Union State Response Force is being tested. The second stage of the Allied Resolve maneuvers, is about to start. Presidents of Belarus and Russia agreed back in December to jointly respond to external aggression, which means to work out various options to neutralize threats and stabilize the situation on the borders of the Union State. The guiding principle is we must be strong enough to win the war, and wise enough to avoid it.
