Makei: SCO membership will give ambitious prospects to Belarus
Belarus intends to make a positive contribution to the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This was stated by Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Samarkand.
The Minister notes that the President of Belarus held a meeting with the SCO Secretary-General in Samarkand. Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus is ready to become a full member of the organization "not empty-handed.
"We are at a strategic crossroads. We are ready to provide our capabilities: transport, logistics, industrial, agricultural. And we intend to make a positive contribution to the development of this organization," Vladimir Makei stressed.
He drew attention to the fact that the SCO is becoming a multifunctional organization where cooperation in different areas, from political to humanitarian, is discussed. "Specific projects and initiatives are discussed, which are oriented towards the future and are very important for Belarus. We have a place to put our efforts there. The membership in this organization provides broad, ambitious prospects for our country," the minister said.
