Makei: Further escalation may fireback even more drastically
The current situation requires new responses from Belarusian diplomats to the policy of the West. The annual workshop of the heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions and consular offices started in Minsk. The training week at the Academy of Administration under the President was opened by Minister of Foreign Affairs. Vladimir Makey noted "While a year ago we were talking about the growing hybrid economic and information warfare against Belarus, which required well thought-out responses and solutions, now the situation has become much more complicated."
The aggravation of contradictions in the European region, caused by the irresponsible policy of the West, resulted in large-scale military actions, deployed directly near our southern borders, unprecedented build-up of the NATO military presence on the northern and western borders of our state, the endless and thoughtless unwinding of the sanctions spiral. Conditions are being created in which further escalation of the situation can lead to even more dire consequences.
Diplomats from all parts of the world gathered to coordinate the positions and make plans, together. The emphasis was laid upon issues of import substitution in the context of counteraction to western sanctions. Belarus plans to increase its exports to Russia by a third this year, Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko assured. Our country will pay special attention to cooperation with Kaliningrad Region.
We have always had very close relations with the Kaliningrad Region. They include supplies of industrial products, agricultural products, and foodstuffs. And our builders worked there a lot. Our neighbors had problems because of certain actions they took. By and large, the EU realized that it had made a wrong move and the restrictions, which were suddenly imposed in the middle of last month, were lifted.
Vladimir Semashko also reminded that now Russia is trying to cope with serious problems in the automobile industry. The withdrawal of Western companies from the Russian market has slowed down the production of cars and trucks. The problem is planned to be solved in the near future. The Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the automobile industry will develop in three stages.
