Alexander Lukashenko starts official visit to St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg is about to host an informal summit of the CIS heads of states, which will be attended Alexander Lukashenko. The working visit of the President of Belarus to the Russian Federation has already started. The Belarusian Forge No. 1 landed in the city on the Neva.
The forthcoming meeting is significant due to the fact that the 30th anniversary of formation of the CIS is marked in December. The leaders of the countries will sum up the results of Belarus' presidency in the Commonwealth this year. They will exchange views on solving common problems and discuss the ways to improve cooperation and socio-economic development of the CIS countries. Tomorrow, there will be a meeting scheduled between Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation. The heads of state will discuss the urgent issues of Belarusian-Russian cooperation. There will also be an informal part of negotiations: it is expected that the leaders will play hockey.
