Petrishenko: The EAEU began to invest in Belarus more than the EU
Prospects for mutual trade, investment, common drivers of economic growth. The second Eurasian Congress took place in Moscow today. One of the main topics was economic integration in the EAEU countries.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, the states of the Eurasian Economic Union should not create duplicate production. It is much more profitable not to compete with each other, but to make a joint product and enter the markets of the third countries with it. As an example, Igor Petrishenko cited the petro-chemistry and wood processing spheres.
There has been a redistribution of the investment flows in the Belarusian economy: over the past 2 years, the EAEU began to invest in Belarus more than the EU.
Also, Belarus and the Eurasian Development Bank are developing several promising projects in the manufacturing industry. When food prices rise around the world, such initiatives will support Belarusian farmers, and most importantly, Belarus' export opportunities in agriculture and food.
