Prime Minister of Pakistan: We fully support Belarus' accession to the SCO
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif in Samarkand, where he arrived to participate in the SCO summit, BelTA informs.
The Prime Minister thanked the President for the invitation to visit Belarus. "I'm really glad you invited me. And let me take this opportunity to also invite you to visit Pakistan as soon as possible," he said.
Shahbaz Sharif also expressed full support for Belarus' aspiration to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a full member. "We fully support Belarus joining the SCO. We will give our full support. This is really a big event. You can count on us," said the Prime Minister.
The countries have a well-developed legal framework. More than 80 documents have been signed. All Belarusian regions have established partnerships with Pakistani provinces. Institutional mechanisms of bilateral cooperation have been established - commissions, specialized working groups and business councils.
Complex technical, chemical and food products with high added value are exported to Pakistan: tractors, trucks, parts and accessories, tires, chemical fibers, baby food, medicines, as well as cellulose, potash fertilizers and specific goods. The leading import items are citrus fruits, rice, leather products, light industry products (fabrics with cotton, knitwear, textiles, bedding and table linen), medical devices and sports equipment.
