President of Belarus: Europe needs a new peace treaty
Europe needs a new peace treaty. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at his meeting with Apostolic Nuncio Ante Jozic, who is completing his mission in Belarus, BelTA writes.
“It is easy for me to talk to you as a representative of a religious confession, one of the main ones in Belarus, because our views - the leadership of Belarus and the Vatican - practically coincide, especially on security issues. Security in Europe. The positions are absolutely consonant. And this is demonstrated by the conflict in Ukraine, where we have almost the same position,” the President said. - “I absolutely agree with you, and we have been talking about it for a long time: in order for Europe to live peacefully and live the way we live (no matter how much we cry, we live not badly), we need a new peace treaty, we need a new peace, if I may say so, in Europe.
“But for this, I think that the activity of our Catholic Church is not enough. It is also necessary that there should be strong leaders in the European countries who proceed from the fact that one must see the interests of their own peoples as well. Not only to obey and act to please someone. We need to see the interests of our own peoples. Unfortunately, let them not take offense at me, I don't see them,” added the Belarusian leader.
