President of Belarus: We have situation under control
The details of the great work to protect thecitizens and the country's sovereignty werediscussed at the Palace of Independence on March 15.The President met with the leadership and operatives of the state security bodies. The agenda included the situation around Belarus and inside the country. The KGB forces are well aware of the urgency of the situation. Last year alone, in cooperation with other organizations, they prevented 11 terrorist attacks in our country. It is known and proven that all these plans were financed from the territory of Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, the United States and Germany. Counteraction to extremism and violence is also an important area for experts in state security. The President reminded about such examples.
Countering cyber attacks is a task for state security agencies
All the mechanisms used against Belarus have failed. This applies to attempts to organize the direct actions and information aggression, as well as the influence of the global network. Today, digital technology is weapons not weaker that real arsenals.
I would like to point to the attempts of cyber attacks that have been made against us. They are akin to biological weapons and even more powerful. No tanks, no machine guns, no high-precision missiles are needed. It is enough to carry out massive cyber-attacks on economic facilities, the enterprises of any country. And it will be enough to turn the country upside down. Therefore, the KGB and other agencies must pay special attention to this direction of the fight.
The economy of Belarus will be tested by sanctions, as before, but the country is able to overcome them. And here the decisive role is played by cooperation with an ally. The huge market of the continent is completely open for us.
Yesterday the talks between the delegations of Russia and Belarus ended as a follow-up to my meeting with President Putin. I will not go into detail, we will tell you when the time comes. Theleadership of Russia, as well as all Russians, have finally acquired a firm understanding that we have to be together, that Russia needs Belarus as much as we need huge Russia. We have been buying and getting energy resources and energy carriers from Russia, and we will be getting them at, I would say, at the same prices as in the Russian Federation - something we have always demanded from Russia.
