President of Belarus sends message to UN Secretary-General
The President of Belarus has sent a message to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on security, the conflict in Ukraine and the role of the UN. It was delivered to António Guterres by our country's representative to the UN Valentin Rybakov. The message stresses that Belarus is genuinely interested in the soonest settlement of the situation in Ukraine. Our country, as a neighbor, is concerned about the future of regional security and national security guarantees. It is impossible to resolve these issues without Minsk's participation, as well as that of the countries of the region. Minsk underscores the enduring value of a peaceful foreign policy.
We are not aggressors, as some states try to present us. Belarus has never been the initiator of any wars or conflicts. But we are not traitors either. Integrity and honesty in relations are important to us. Our position is that the concerns and interests of any country, be it one eighth of the land or an island nation, must be heard by everybody!
Our head of state suggested that concrete measures be taken to immediately end the conflict and prevent it from escalating into a global war. The first thing to do is to refrain from arms supplies, information wars and various provocations. The President of Belarus urged the Secretary General of the United Nations to start negotiations with all parties involved in the conflict, including the United States and Western countries. In his message, Lukashenko assured Guterres that Belarus was ready for any steps to ensure peace, opportunities for life and development for future generations.
