Alexander Lukashenko extends greetings to President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping on 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and China

The diplomatic relations between Belarus and China turned 30 on January 20. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping on behalf of the Belarusian people and on his own behalf.

"Within a short period of time by historical standards, we have gone a long way from bilateral interaction to a trust-based comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation. We are on track to enter a new stage of ‘iron brotherhood' and ‘all-weather partnership'. These words embody our successes and achievements in politics, economy, humanitarian field, defense and security," the message reads.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that Minsk and Beijing are consistently expanding interstate dialogue, coordinating goals and objectives on global and regional agendas, including within the framework of the UN, the SCO, the EAEU, implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and cooperating in many other areas.

"Today we remember with gratitude all those who helped promote the bilateral relations at various stages and make them meaningful and impactful to serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries. I am convinced that the groundwork we have laid will become a solid foundation for future generations of Belarusians and Chinese, who, like us, will be good friends and will support each other at all times," the message of congratulations reads.

Alexander Lukashenko wished Xi Jinping strong health and implementation of achievement of his goals, and the fraternal people of China peace and prosperity.

The President of Belarus also received a congratulatory message from the Chinese leader.

"On behalf of the Chinese government and Chinese people and on my own behalf I convey my sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and the friendly Belarusian people on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus," the message reads.

Xi Jinping noted that over the 30 years since the diplomatic relations were established, the bilateral cooperation has been making great progress, and the long-standing friendship between the two nations is becoming stronger every day. "Under our joint leadership, China and Belarus have consistently built a comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation. The political trust between the two countries is unshakable, and bilateral cooperation in various fields has generated great results," the president of the People's Republic of China said.

He emphasized that Belarus and China absolutely support each other on issues related to the fundamental interests of the two countries, and also closely and effectively interact in international and regional affairs. After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries have been consistently supporting each other and overcoming difficulties hand in hand, demonstrating brotherhood with a common destiny.

The Chinese President noted that over the past years, the leaders of the two countries have maintained communication in various ways and reached important agreements on the promotion of China-Belarus relations in the new environment. "As we mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, I would like to use this opportunity to assure you that I am ready to make every effort together with you to advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Belarus and the joint implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative to achieve even greater results for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples," he stressed.

Xi Jinping wished Alexander Lukashenko success in his work and strong health, prosperity to the friendly nation of Belarus, and happiness and prosperity to Belarusians.

The countries have actually achieved a real breakthrough in the economic partnership during this time. The volume of bilateral trade increased 50 times. Large joint projects have survived even under the blow of the epidemic. The Chinese capital is present in many spheres of the Belarusian economy. Geely cars, the biotechnology corporation, the Great Stone industrial park have become the center of attraction for technology and capital. Alexander Lukashenko and President of China Xi Jinping recently discussed a wide range of issues in a telephone conversation. The countries firmly support each other in protecting their core interests, and this reflects the strategic value of Sino-Belarusian cooperation. China opposes any interference of external forces in the internal affairs of Belarus, as before it supports our country in choosing the path of development that corresponds to national peculiarities.

The parties also agreed on new large-scale projects in education and continuation of financial support. New impetus will be given to Great Stone companies, in particular, to the engineering cluster and electronics production. The traditional Chinese medicine will be developed, including production of a coronavirus vaccine.
