Enlarged meeting of Security Council held in Minsk
Ukraine is in the spotlight: an enlarged meeting of the Security Council of Belarus was held at the Palace of Independence.
Alexander Lukashenko presented a detailed analysis of the preconditions for the current events. He also drew attention to the speculation in the media and the Internet space, stressing that the events should be assessed only on the basis of hard facts.
Even today Belarus is doing its best to help the conflicting sides to find common ground in their positions and stop the bloodshed. Alexander Lukashenko was cautiously optimistic about the results of the Russian-Ukrainian talks, which were held in Belarus. Belarus undertook the organization of the negotiation process. We fulfill all our obligations, however we are ready to get involved if necessary.
The situation in Ukraine is a result of reckless policy of the West
In general, the current situation is a direct consequence of the reckless policy of the West. It aims at forcing its own interests to the detriment of the security of others, said the President, recalling that prior to the outbreak of hostilities, when Belarus had offered to assist its Ukrainian colleagues in establishing direct contact with the Russian side. However, the initiative was ignored at that time.
