Development in context of turbulence and sanctions - government answers questions of parliamentarians

Amid the global financial turbulence and endless sanctions, the main purpose of which is to destroy our economy, it is important to stay afloat and keep our independence, including food independence. And Belarus manages to do so. We provide ourselves with everything we need, plus we earn money on it. Every year, our agro-industrial complex increases its production potential and expands the geography of exports. Of course, the industry has some problems. The principal objectives for the agro-industrial complex were discussed today in the Oval Office of the Parliament.

2021 agrarian season was far from easy for Belarus. Nonetheless, the today's figures in the Oval Office sound optimistic. The agrarians coped with it, even if in spite of it. There will be no shortage of food for sure. There is enough grain and vegetables, there is meat and milk and plenty of sugar. Belarus is fully provided with food. It's important against the backdrop of food shortages in the world. The pandemic has aggravated the problem of hunger in the world. This year, about 270 million people will face food shortages. Analysts have already dubbed the coming 2022 a "food disaster".

We need not worry: Belarus is fully provided with the necessary food. There is also enough food for export. The President repeatedly reminded that the task for the government is to sell more actively.

There is also a line of "fashionable" products. The Belarusians, as they say, are in the trend. They already produce special A2 milk for immunity. Meatless sausage, vegetarian ice cream, cheese made of French sheep's milk: all these are new generation formulas from our scientists. Belarus manufactures products for children, the elderly, pregnant women, and athletes.

Agribusiness: Strategy and Tactics

But, nevertheless, no one cancelled diversification. Russia, China, the Middle East. Africa. Strategy, tactics and discipline stand behind the "Made in Belarus" brand. The bar is very high. It is not within everyone's power.

Food prices under control

The Deputy Prime Minister said honestly that it is unrealistic to "freeze" the prices. Nevertheless, the food basket of socially important goods is under close control in Belarus: they are regulated by a special resolution. On the one hand it is a plus for the consumer. But on the other, it is a serious disadvantage for the producer.
