Senators approve bill on All-Belarusian People's Assembly
At the meeting of the tenth session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation, the senators approved the bill "On the All-Belarusian People's Assembly," BelTA informs.
The draft law aims to implement the decision of the national referendum of February 27, 2022, making amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. The bill determines the competence, formation and activities of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly.
Thus, it is provided that the All-Belarusian People's Assembly shall approve the priorities of domestic and foreign policy, the military doctrine, the concept of national security, programs of socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus, hear the President's annual message to parliament, have the right to legislative initiative, propose amendments and addenda to the Constitution and have the right to consider the legitimacy of elections, etc.
The document defines the forms of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly activity, establishes its competence, size and procedure for the election of the Presidium, establishes the legal status of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly delegates, their rights and obligations, and the grounds for termination of their powers.
