Details of report by head of Investigative Committee to Lukashenko
The issues of the current work of the Investigative Committee were discussed during the report to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, said chairman Dmitri Gora, BelTA informs.
Special emphasis was placed on issues of combating extremism. "This relates to the instructions of the head of state, given at the beginning of this year, to reduce the balance of criminal cases of extremist nature. This means the identification of criminals and their prosecution. It is reported that there is a very dense work in this direction together with the internal affairs bodies and the KGB," said the head of the department.
"A quarter of all criminal cases of extremist nature were taken to court within 10 months of this year. That is, we have a positive trend," stressed Dmitry Gora.
In addition, the issues of special proceedings were reported. This is the criminal prosecution of persons hiding abroad. It is reported that the attorneys assigned to the criminal cases are currently familiarizing themselves with the materials of the case against Tikhanovskaya, Latushko and other members of... I won't even name this organization. Who thought they were the leadership of our country. This case, too, will be forwarded in the near future."
"The position has been agreed with the head of state on sending criminal cases, not of extremist nature, but against people who have committed economic crimes, causing huge damage to both citizens and state organizations, to court in a special proceeding. And who have quite a lot of assets left here, which will allow them to compensate for this damage. We will also be working in this direction," said the chairman of the Investigative Committee.
The Investigative Committee is also concerned about the increase in the number of registered crimes against sexual integrity and sexual freedom, especially those involving minors. "Here we also note an increase. We will analyze this situation. I think we have increased the detectability. But still all the subjects of prevention will have to make efforts to rectify the situation in this area, "- said the chairman of the Investigative Committee.
