Anniversary EAEC summit held in Nur-Sultan
This week, the main political and economic news came fr om the capital of Kazakhstan, wh ere the anniversary EAEC summit took place. The agreement on the creation of the Eurasian Economic Commonwealth was signed on May 29, 2014 in Astana (two months ago the city was renamed Nur-Sultan).
The EAEC today includes five member states: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia
The numbers are impressive. First, it is a common market that brings together more than 180 million consumers. Geographical scale is also impressive - this is 14% of world land. Yet, there are still a lot of problems inside the EAEC: these are trade restrictions, barriers and exemptions. It is necessary to get rid of them, then there will be no problems with the involvement of new countries at the union site. This was recalled at the summit by Alexander Lukashenko.
We need a common market with equal conditions for all participants. This thesis was voiced by our President during the Message to the people and to the Parliament. By the way, this summit allowed the leaders to discuss the issues on the bilateral agenda. Alexander Lukashenko met with the leaders of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Russia. Vladimir Putin spoke in detail about the issues of deepening bilateral integration.
The whole essence of the EAEC is a market of equal conditions, without restrictions and barriers. Russia is still making claims to the Belarusian foodstuffs, Kazakhstan has trade disputes with Kyrgyzstan. Electronic document management will help to get rid of bureaucratic barriers.
Next time the heads of the “Eurasian Five” will gather on October 1 in Yerevan.
