Foreign Ministry of Belarus comments on extraordinary meeting of UN Security Council

Belarus shares the approaches of Russia, China and Algeria, which supported the submission of the issue of the murder of the leader of the political wing of Hamas to the UN Security Council's extraordinary meeting on July 31, 2024. This is stated in the commentary of the Foreign Ministry's press service, writes BELTA.

“Unfortunately, the refusal of some members of the Security Council to support the adoption of a statement assessing this political murder nullifies the efforts of international mediators to defuse the situation in the Middle East, threatens the region with another round of the most dangerous escalation, and moves further away the prospects of resolving the conflict in Gaza, which daily claims dozens and hundreds of lives, including innocent civilians, including children,” the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

The Belarusian side continues to insist that the establishment of peace and stability in the long-suffering region of the Middle East is possible only as a result of purposeful diplomatic efforts of all parties involved to achieve a just settlement.
