Lukashenko on new concept of national security: it must be absolutely open

Belarus is going to update the concept of national security. The document was discussed today in the Palace of Independence by the President and the State Secretary of the Security Council. The need is urgent due to the unstable geopolitical situation. At the same time, there is a need to fix in the document the innovations reflected in the Constitution.

The security concept has been updated by almost 70%. Foreign experience and opinions of the scientific and expert community have been studied. The strategic national interests of the Belarusian state now include the historical memory, the constitutional category "people" and their comprehensive protection. New national interests include social responsibility of citizens (not only the state), personal data security, development of nuclear energy. Taking into account the global biological threats, a new sphere of biological security was added to the concept.

Report of the Secretary of State of the Security Council: the situation on the southern border, security forces and information security.

The meeting also discussed the situation on the southern border. They instructed the Security Council, the Ministry of Defense and all security agencies to make an assessment, taking into account the lessons learned since the start of the military operation in Ukraine. The President was also reported on the situation in law enforcement agencies in terms of what still needs to be done. They discussed the information security, strengthening of responsibility and discipline in the work with the republican bodies and the participation of the State Secretariat. The Head of State also instructed to schedule an event on national defense issues in his working schedule on the basis of the relevant ministry.
