President receives report about countering smuggling at border

The situation at the customs agencies, countering the import of embargoed products to Russia and other topics were discussed by the President of Belarus at a meeting with the head of the Customs Committee.

Yuri Senko reported about the work of the department and customs modernization. The cargo traffic through the country has increased, and this was reflected in the country’s budget. As of the first 6 months of 2018, the budget received over 2 billion dollars, which means an increase of 25%. Belarusian experts also work to block the import of embargoed products to Russia. Since the imposition of the sanctions, the Belarusian customs agencies have recorded over 2,000 violations and opened 30 criminal cases.

Also, the President received a report on the fight against smuggling. This year, customs officers intercepted about 100 kg of heavy drugs.
