Experts comment on visit of Belarusian President to the East
Belarus is open to cooperation with everyone who sees us as an equal partner on the basis of respect for each other and mutual interests. Belarusians are ready to be friends and work together without regard to distances. This was demonstrated by the visit of our President to Mongolia and Irkutsk Region. We are close friends. Alexander Lukashenko told both Mongolians and Irkutians about it. And it is not so important what the traditions of our cooperation are - political will can bring it to a new level. Belarus and Mongolia have obviously become closer.
This is evidenced by the wide range of agreements reached. We are looking forward to the delegation's return visit. We are strengthening ties with Russian regions: Minsk and Irkutsk are ready to go further along the path of import substitution. The development of aircraft construction requires active joint work. All the more so, we have the competence.
The course to the East does not look like an untrodden path for us. Lukashenko has been to Mongolia, as we know. Albeit a long time ago, but he remembers for sure that Ulan-Bator is not a terra incognita for Minsk.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
“The basis of our relations was certainly created by our very close and warm relations in the times of the Soviet Union. It was so before, it should be so now. Belarusians are going to Mongolia as friends - to bring back the glory of good relations that can and should be monetized.”
