Lukashenko: The festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" is a celebration of traditional values
The international arts festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" has become a family holiday and a celebration of traditional values. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the opening ceremony of the festival, BelTA informs.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the festival has become a whole epoch and its philosophy - "Through art to peace and mutual understanding" - has deep roots.
"Here, on the picturesque bank of the Dvina River, 1,050 years ago the foundation stone of the city was laid, which today we rightfully call our cultural capital. There is something in this corner of Belarus that for centuries has inspired the creation of masterpieces of fine arts, unique architectural objects, great literary and musical works, as well as festivals, contests and many other creative projects," the head of state said. - A unique atmosphere has been created here for centuries. The atmosphere of creative search. An atmosphere of dialogue of civilizations. For centuries, trade routes have crossed here, connecting east and west, north and south. This city gratefully absorbed new ideas and trends. And due to this it has been developing."
According to Alexander Lukashenko, that is why the history of the festival began here - in the city of world-famous people whose professional path passed through its workshops. Vitebsk has become the creative homeland of real geniuses.
