Lukashenko: Crisis of security architecture affected CSTO
The goals and priorities of the Belarusian chairmanship in the CSTO were voiced by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a plenary session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Yerevan, BelTA informs.
"Belarus takes over the chairmanship in the Collective Security Treaty Organization at a time of systemic crisis in international relations. We have an unprecedented aggravation of military-political situation in the Eurasian continent, as well as further polarization of approaches to the New World Order," said Alexander Lukashenko.
The President said that the Western countries are persistently trying to return to unipolar world order, imposing their own rules of the game. The norms of international law have been replaced by the dictate of force and the practice of sanctioning the "disobedient" countries.
"Just look at the incessant sanctions pressure on Belarus and Russia. The current crisis of the international and regional security architecture is directly reflected on our organization, the CSTO, which is exposed to various challenges and threats: both transnational and those associated with interstate contradictions," said the head of state.
