Lukashenko on reconstruction of Barrow of Glory: The main thing is not to spoil the original appearance

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko demands to carefully approach the reconstruction of the memorial complex "Barrow of Glory" in order not to spoil its original appearance, BelTA informs.

First of all, the head of state familiarized himself with the reconstruction of the upper platform of the memorial complex. Here, Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Turchin reported to the President on the stages of financing construction and installation works and plans for their completion.

"It's not even about money. One should not spoil the original look," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. There's absolutely no need for excesses here".

Since 2023, the memorial complex is undergoing another reconstruction. Construction and installation works have been carried out on the central staircase and the place of laying flowers. The fountain, water storage tanks, automatic irrigation, engineering networks, parking lot, administration building, outdoor lighting network have been reconstructed. Also in the park multimedia screens were installed, the exposition of military equipment was replenished.

Reconstruction of the staircase for climbing the Barrow of Glory and its restoration are scheduled for the second half of 2024.

The Barrow of Glory was laid on September 30, 1966 by representatives of the hero-cities of Moscow, Leningrad, Volgograd, Sevastopol, Odessa, Kiev, Brest Hero Fortress, military units, workers and students of Minsk and Minsk Region.
