Lukashenko: High Tech Park should work for Belarus in the first place
The High Technologies Park should work for Belarus in the first place. This is the position of the President. Today the head of state received a report from the management of the park as well as the deputy head of the Presidential Administration and the First Deputy Prime Minister. The discussion focused on the results and prospects of the HTP development.
And it is worth recalling that it was at the initiative of Alexander Lukashenko that the development of the IT-sphere was seriously supported. And today the export income is comparable to that of potash.
The IT community was not at its best in 2020. This can no longer be undone, but you can turn the page by focusing on jobs, prospects, and economic strength.
At the beginning of the meeting Alexander Lukashenko said that the time came to return to the issue of the HTP not even from the economic point of view, but from the moral and political one. In this regard, the head of state mentioned the events of 2020 and the mutiny that was imposed on people in Belarus.
"HTP employees have shown themselves, to put it mildly, not on the best side. The time has come to remove some unnecessary aspects from the functioning of the HTP," said the President. - I have to say that we should make allowance for the fact that the HTP employees themselves and those who were involved in high technology are not to blame for everything. This is partly our fault. And more likely, it's an inevitable phase that we went through when HTP and those companies that were registered there were, to put it bluntly, subsidiaries. The owners were far outside of Belarus."
Alexander Lukashenko said that on the eve of the attempted insurgency in 2020 there were reports that the HTP employees were planned to be involved as a driving force. However, this issue was not given due attention at the time: "I admit that neither me, nor the security services paid due attention to this matter. We just ignored it. I thought: well, it can't be that your children started a war against you. It turns out that even children can go to war against their parents, if they are well paid. That is, our people, it must also be admitted frankly, working in the HTP, receiving a decent income as compared to the average salary in Belarus, preferred big money and carried out the commands of their overseas masters."
The Belarusian leader also added: "We have analyzed this situation from these positions and came to this conclusion. That's why we have to make allowance for the fact that they were still ruled. And since they are mostly young people, and the HTP leadership worked there, they did not know their people and did not counteract all these negative trends in time."
Alexander Lukashenko considers the HT Park not just a project, but his brainchild. The President stressed that it would be wrong to refuse the work of the HTP, not to support it. Despite the fact that in recent years, this industry has developed significantly in Belarus, and not only within the park, starting from the Academy of Sciences and ending with MAZ, BelAZ and other enterprises.
