Lukashenko about Merkel's statements on Minsk Agreements: She starts making excuses - It's disgusting and despicable
Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel was despicable and disgusting with her recent statements about the peace talks in Minsk and the Minsk Agreements on resolving the situation in Ukraine, made several years ago. This was stated by President of Belarus in Bishkek, answering the questions of journalists, BelTA informs.
The essence of Merkel's statement is that at that time she considered the Minsk Agreements as a possibility to give Kyiv time to build up its power and military resources.
"I must tell you, I've told Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin - note by BelTA) my point of view on this issu. It's disgusting. I didn't expect that either. And the President of Russia said that he didn't expect such an outburst from Angela Merkel. What she did was petty, disgusting. She wants to be in the trend. The Minsk Agreements and Merkel's position, as well as others, including Poroshenko, were then very serious. Can you imagine, after the Minsk meetings, the whole world was talking about finally making a move and signing these agreements. The war stopped, people were no longer being killed. Everyone was positive about it," the President said.
"If they cheated and prepared for war, that's disgusting. And what Merkel says today, echoing Poroshenko (former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko - BelTA's commentary), is disgusting. It is a trend. And they want to be on it. Secondly, Merkel does not want to be blamed for the events in Ukraine: "Well, you were there, you went with Hollande (former French President Francois Hollande -BelTA's note), representing Europe, and you pushed Ukraine in the wrong direction. She starts making excuses. I'll stress it again: disgusting and despicable. She would have been better off just sitting there and not coming out. By doing this, she has undone everything she has done for Germany and for the European Union. And we took her seriously. And Russia also took her seriously. But as you see, we were wrong. She turned out to be just as petty as all the leaders of Europe today," said Alexander Lukashenko.
