President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has expressed condolences to the family and friends of the first President of Moldova Mircea Snegur in connection with his death, BelTA reports citing the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"The political fate of M. Snegur was inextricably linked to the establishment of Moldova as a sovereign state, a full member of international organizations and a participant of integration associations, such as the United Nations and the Commonwealth of Independent States," the head of state stressed.
Belarus remembers that during his presidency the fundamental documents of the Belarusian-Moldovan relations were signed, in particular, the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, while Mircea Snegur took part in the opening of the Belarusian Embassy in Chisinau in 1995.
