President: Belarus will always be a good and reliable friend of Armenia

Global security issues are discussed again in Minsk. These days, the Belarusian capital will for the first time become a venue for an authoritative meeting of the main group of the Munich conference. The constructive role of Minsk is highly appreciated in Yerevan. However, during a meeting with the President of Armenia, Alexander Lukashenko confirmed: Belarus will always be a good and reliable friend. Armen Sargsyan stressed the important role of Belarus in conflict resolution: Minsk platform is distinguished by stability and predictability, where a variety of international problems are regularly and successfully resolved. One example is the OSCE Minsk Group, which is seeking a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. The Belarusian capital is increasingly becoming a comfortable platform for dialogue.

Armen Sargsyan said, he is glad that a conversation about peace and security will take place in Belarus. It is difficult to imagine a place on the map that is more suitable for discussing such issues. Our site has already gained credibility and trust on the global political map.

Armenia and Belarus are partners in a range of integrations. We cooperate in economic matters through the EEC. Active work is underway in the CIS format. Despite the changes within the country, the external vectors will remain the same.

This year, the trade turnover has already increased by one third (for 8 months, a total of $ 31 million). We mainly sell tractors, dairy products and furniture. However, the potential is much higher, the Belarusian leader said.

Possible Belarusian-Armenian scientific projects may result in joint discoveries in the field of digital and laser technologies, cybersecurity, nuclear energy and pharmaceuticals.

Another promising area is the food industry. Minsk and Yerevan can enter the markets of other countries with their products. Today, the demand for goods “made in Belarus” in Armenia is high. They buy food and our equipment. For example, the Armenian-Belarusian trading house provides a fifth of the Belarusian exports to this Transcaucasian market. In addition, Yerevan is interested in our transportation, hundreds of buses and trolley buses need to be replaced.
