President of Belarus leaves for working visit to China
President of Belarus went for a working visit to China to attend a meeting of Council of Heads of State of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The plane of the State Headquarters departed from the National Airport Minsk. According to the press service of the President, at the summit, Alexander Lukashenko will present the position and proposals of Belarus regarding the development of this organization and the implementation of new areas of cooperation between its members. The Belarusian leader will hold a number of bilateral meetings with e heads of the countries participating in the summit, including the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. The meeting will focus on strengthening cooperation in the political sphere, realizing the existing and developing new projects, deepening inter-regional cooperation.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a major integration uniting 8 countries: Russia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Belarus received observer status in the association in July 2015. The same opportunities are open to Afghanistan, Iran and Mongolia. Six more states are dialogue partners. In general, the territory of the member countries makes up 60% of the territory of Eurasia. And the total population is equal to half of the world's population. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is not a military bloc, but consistently stands for strengthening stability, security and promoting economic cooperation.
