Alexander Lukashenko meets with German Ambassador Peter Dettmar

The development of the Belarusian-German interaction was discussed today at the Palace of Independence. President Alexander Lukashenko has met with German Ambassador Peter Dettmar. The practice of regular meetings of the Head of State with representatives of the diplomatic corps is an opportunity to conduct an audit of bilateral relations and determine prospects.

The current conversation was frank and without formalism. The parties exchanged views on how to take steps towards a global partnership with all of Europe. Germany is one of the key points in this issue.

In recent years, official Minsk and Berlin have intensified contacts, especially at the political level.

In 2015, German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Minsk to attend the meeting in the Norman format.

This summer the President of Germany came to Belarus, he attended the events dedicated to the opening of the memorial in Trostenets. At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko and Frank Walter Steinmeier held bilateral talks in the Palace of Independence.

In recent years, mutual trade has increased. Germany has traditionally been among the most important trading and investment partners of Belarus. At the end of 2017, it took the 4th place in terms of turnover - this is 2 billion 800 million dollars. Germany is the number one partner of Belarus in the supply of high-tech equipment, including that for modernization of enterprises. In short, there are absolutely all the prerequisites for further full-format cooperation. Belarus is ready for its development in the spirit of mutual respect and partnership.

The countries not only activate economic and investment cooperation, but also consider the possibility of creating joint projects in the IT sphere. German companies are showing great interest in the industrial park Great Stone, 3 projects are already being implemented.
