President of Belarus meets with Secretary of Russian Security Council
Various topics were discussed at the Palace of Independence at the meeting between the President and the Secretary of the Russian Security Council. Nikolai Patrushev arrived in Minsk on a 2-day visit. The geopolitical situation now is not the easiest one. In recent years, the hybrid wars have become more and more widespread. They inflict no less damage on states than traditional conflicts. Patrushev noted that the scenario of a color revolution was thwarted in Belarus before, and a number of Western countries crossed all the boundaries in attempts to turn our country upside down.
It all depends not only on what is happening inside the countries, but outside forces also matter. Threats and challenges are traditional, they have not gone anywhere. International terrorism, extremism are associated with it. There are new threats to talk about: cybersecurity. Unfortunately, many people do not understand that no country can cope with this threat on its own. We need to combine efforts.
The Security Councils of Belarus and Russia are always in touch: they keep an eye on the challenges that both Belarus and Russia have to face today. The influence that comes from the outside will not be ignored either.
Attention should be paid to NGOs and their activities. When they say that they are independent, this is completely wrong. We need to look at their finances channels to clarify their activities. Law enforcement agencies and special services of each country should work and exchange. And, of course, we also count on the public to provide us with information. The outer forces tried to change the system and power in Belarus. We have been observing this recently. The situation is similar to pressure on Russia.
Today, Minsk hosts bilateral consultations between the offices of the Security Councils of Belarus and Russia, they are scheduled. It is about new threats and measures to counter hybrid influences on our countries and interference in internal affairs. International and regional security are also discussed.
