Regional conflicts and relations - what leaders discussed at CIS summit

The CIS should be a strong union of strong, economically self-sufficient sovereign states. The President of Belarus made this statement on October 8 at the Commonwealth summit in Moscow.
The leaders of the association were able to exchange opinions on pressing issues. They talked not only about regional relations, but also about regional conflicts. Today, the heads of state also adopted an Address in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. It calls for preventing the revival of fascism.
Alexander Lukashenko commented on the change in Russia's nuclear doctrine, the calls of some "hotheads" in Ukraine for a military invasion of Belarus, and also shed light on the informal part of the meeting.
Informal communication between leaders in the CIS happens even more often than officialdom. But once a year, the political club of the post-Soviet space gets together. The heads of state officially arrived at the Kremlin Palace for lunch.
The press greeted the leaders primarily with professional interest, because an exclusive comment can sometimes make the whole report.
Naturally, we are determined to strengthen our cooperation in every possible way. This is precisely what the concept of the Russian presidency in 2024 and the large-scale plan of relevant events are aimed at. We are grateful to all our colleagues present for their support and long-term participation in the work on their implementation.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
We are witnessing the deepest crisis of international relations. Could we have imagined before that any country would ban the Secretary General of the United Nations from entering the country? It is important to stand together against illegal unilateral economic restrictions. Today they do not only concern Belarus and Russia. Virtually all countries of the Commonwealth are under the threat of secondary sanctions.
