President of Belarus congratulates compatriots on Independence Day

“The main holiday of the country embodies the centuries-old history of the struggle of Belarusians for freedom, for the right to live in their native land.It is deeply symbolic that this date is historically connected with the day of the liberation of the capital of our Motherland from the German fascist invaders. During the Great Patriotic War, the Belarusian people paid millions of lives of their sons and daughters, defending our future. This bitter experience taught us to preserve peace, value national unity, and fight for statehood.Belarusians have always drawn strength from the spiritual heritage of their ancestors, from their hard work and dedication. Many generations of patriots, creators and winners stand behind us. We have no right to let them down. In the same way as we are responsible to our descendants.I am convinced that only by careful preserving of the memory of the heroes and multiplying what has been achieved, the Belarusians will always remain masters in their land and determine their destiny," the congratulation says.
