The President congratulated Anton Smolski on silver medal at Olympic Games

“You broke into the elite of the world biathlon this season and got on the podium at the main start of the four years. The Olympic medal you won in an uncompromising competition with the strongest athletes in the world is a great success for you, your team and the whole country,” the message says.

The head of state wished the athlete good health, good luck and new victories.

Anton Smolskiy became the second in a 20-km individual race in difficult weather conditions giving way only to the world season leader Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet and beating Norwegian Johanes Bø. This was the first medal for our country at the Olympic Games in China and the first one in the last 12 years for the men's biathlon in Belarus.

Anton Smolski's award ceremony will be held tomorrow at 15-10. Watch this nice moment for our country on TV channel Belarus 5. The biathlon competition will continue on February 11 with women's sprint race.
