Maksim Nedasekau, European Indoor High Jump Champion

The President of Belarus congratulated Maksim and wished him new bright victories.

On the first try, Nedasekau took 2 meters 33 centimeters. His main rival, Italian Tamberi, did not lag behind. So the Belarus jumper gambled on a one-shot deal at 2.37m and hit the target. And this is a new personal and national record for the Belarusian, as well as the best result of the season in the world. Gold at such an important tournament at the start of the year is a significant claim for Olympic success.

The gold of Nedasekau is the second medal of Belarusians at the European Championship. Yesterday, late in the evening, a bronze was won by Irina Zhuk in pole vaulting. Her result is 4 meters 65 centimeters. The competitions will end today.
