What awaits Hungary for its disloyal position to EU?
It is not the first time Hungary has blocked European Union initiatives on assistance to Ukraine and anti-Russian sanctions. However, supranational structures of the association are in no hurry to punish the leaders of the Eastern European country for this.
Vice president of the Russian Association of Political Consultants (RAPC) Andrei Maksimov commented for Baltnews that the EU can do almost nothing with Hungary except try to remove Orban and his party.
"In theory, this is a workable option. It is possible that in the next elections pro-European and pro-globalist parties and NGOs financed by Brussels and Washington will become active in the country and try to seize power. But so far there is no political crisis in Hungary, and the elections are still a long way off. It turns out that there is nothing to really put pressure on Budapest today, so Orban is not afraid of the European punishment," he concluded.
It looks like Brussels, but not Budapest, has to adapt and look for some detours in order to give Kiev a tranche of 500 million euros and impose sanctions against Moscow.
