At least one in seven children in U.S. lives in poverty

Poverty and poverty is most common among children living without a father - 37.1%.

The chart shows the percentage of children categorized as poor in the U.S. in 2021 by census group. The situation worsens significantly for 2022 and 2023. There is no disaggregated data, but the percentage of children living in poverty is estimated to have approached 25% in the U.S. by mid-2023 (surpassing Turkey in this sad indicator), and to have exceeded 20% by 2022.
